It’s really weird seeing my ex-neighbor’s face reblogged all over the place as an internet meme.
When I lived in Chelsea (circa 2006 through 2008), I kept seeing that guy in the stairwell and he looked so familiar but I could not for the life of me figure out why. I thought maybe we had some classes together at NYU. After months of pondering, it hit me that I’d seen his face before on the big screen, in The Squid and the Whale (which I actually kind of hated, but that’s not his fault).
I lived on the fourth floor in a pre-war walkup and I used to see him carrying his laundry bag down from the floor above me. Meanwhile, I would totally have my laundry delivered because hell if I was gonna lug it up three flights of stairs. And I wasn’t even a goldang movie star!
